Let the games begin. The Game Show Challenge, a unique-every-time game show experience, is coming to Hampton Station. Started by Columbians (hey, COLAtoday) Josh + Patty Brickey, owners of an award-winning escape room company, this experience transports you inside your favorite game show, and it’ll be different every time you play. We sat down with Josh and got the scoop about this experience.
Why game shows?
He told us he really wanted to create something you could replay. With escape rooms, once you’ve done it, you know how it ends, but this experience has multitude of different games.
What kinds of games can we expect?
“It mimics popular game shows with a twist,” he told us, with games like:
- Fast paced, minute to win it tasks
- A giant, seven-foot wheel game
- “Family Feud-style” games
- A “Plinko-style” board
- Brain Buzz — an original trivia game where everyone gets a buzzer
- Loose Connections — another original game where your job is to find the thing several items have in common
“There’s professional lighting and sound, a host, a producer, the works.”
How does it work?
Games take ~1 hour, include three to five different types of games + are designed for 6-14 people. “Once you’ve booked, the space is yours. No one can walk in,” Josh said. “We can tailor every game to every group and the producer can alter things on the fly.”
Ready to book your party? Well, hold your horses. This location will officially launch later next month and you’ll be able to book on the weekends. We’ll see you there.
