🎨 Greenville, you’re a work of art

What do you think of Main Street’s newest mural? | Photo by Blank Canvas Mural Co.
We all know that Greenville has a vibrant art scene — and we’re not just talking about The Greenville County Museum of Art or the Greenville Center for Creative Arts. One of our all-time favorite galleries? Greenville itself.

Greenville is home to a number of meaningful murals. Today, we’re sharing where to find some pieces — old and new — that really paint a picture of our city and beyond.

The newest additions

New for 2024, local cities are debuting new, colorful landmark-centric murals. From the Golden Strip to Downtown Greenville, this stamp + postcard style is taking over.

Ballard Designs, the corner of South Main and River Streets | By Adam Schrimmer, Blank Canvas Mural Company

The beloved Coca Cola mural had to be removed from this corner near Falls Park when the historic building began its transformation, and local muralist Adam Schrimmer was tapped to create a colorful nod to Greenville’s greatest landmarks. Shoutout to reader Beth B. who predicted this mural making its debut.

In collaboration with Golden Strip Leadership and Art Houzze, Miles designed three “Welcome to...” murals that are chock-full of references to each city.

Celebrate 150 years of commerce in Downtown Easley on Saturday, May 4 with the official unveiling of this stamp-inspired mural.

Bonus: The Good Market Co. + Shortfields, 24 S. Main St., Travelers Rest | By Adam Schrimmer, Blank Canvas Mural Company

We can’t wait for this upcoming mural in Travelers Rest on the corner of Shortfields. The street art hopes to “reflect TR’s spirit and hometown charm.”

Small acts of generosity can make a big difference — especially at the YMCA of Greenville.

The Annual Campaign is an opportunity to support local YMCA programs. Funds raised will provide financial assistance to anyone who wants to participate in the Y’s programs, regardless of their ability to pay.

Thanks to the Y, thousands in our community receive the support + resources for better health and well-being. Kids learn skills like sharing, sportsmanship, and leadership while having fun in programs such as:
Your donation also ensures access to resources for healthy living, like LIVESTRONG at the Y, and supports the Y’s food delivery program for those facing food insecurity across Greenville County.

This year’s goal: Raise $1.44 million to meet an unprecedented number of requests for financial assistance.

From the editor
I attended my first Southern Roots Reunion this past weekend, and I will never miss another one. The food was incredible and featured some of my favorite Upstate chefs. I could not believe the volume and quality of barbecue. Watch my recap and keep an eye out for next year’s festival details.
