Wishing for warmer weather already, Greenville? Get in the summer spirit early at the 54th Annual Upstate SC Boat Show. Head to the Greenville Convention Center Thursday, Jan. 25 through Sunday, Jan. 28 to see the latest boat models and boating accessories — and for the real boating buffs, there will even be a display of antique boats.
Whether you’re looking for a fishing boat, pontoon, speed boat, ski boat, cruiser, or personal watercraft, the Upstate SC Boat Show has it all. Find everything you need to start off the boating season right, or just have fun bow-sing.
Plus, One Blood will be hosting a Blood Drive at the Convention Center where attendees can donate during the boat show.
Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and students, and free for kids under six — and are available for purchase online or at the Greenville Convention Center. Show hours are 12-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, and 12-6 p.m. Sunday, so there are plenty of opportunities to swing by and see what the show is all a-boat.

Smoke on the Water will close its downtown location at 1 Augusta St. on Sunday, March 24. It will open a new location off Pelham Road near I-85 (date to be announced) which it says will feature better parking + opportunities for live music.
Development
Local housing nonprofit Homes of Hope will break ground this summer on nine affordable townhomes in the Welcome community located in western Greenville County. The organization aims to offer rates affordable for families making ~$1,200 a month. (The Post and Courier Greenville)

Charlotte-based company Aston purchased McBee Station, located downtown where Church Street passes over East McBee Avenue, on Monday, Jan. 8. The company specializes in shopping centers + also owns McDaniel Village, North Hills Shopping Center, and Verde Village in our area. (Upstate Business Journal)

Larkin’s Restaurants (including Larkin’s, Larkin’s Catering & Events, Limoncello, and Grill Mark’s) was taken over by Adam Hayes and Kristina Murphy. Mark and Larkin Hammond started the company in 1990 and sold it in September 2023 in order to retire. (Upstate Business Journal)
