The South Carolina State Museum‘s art collection (think: 4,500+ pieces of fine and folk art, historic and modern pottery, ceramics, and more) is now available to explore online for the first time.
This project, made possible with funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services’ (IMLS) Museums for America grant and the South Carolina State Legislature, has been years in the making.
While the online database is currently limited to works of art, the majority of the museum’s collections will be added in time for SCSM’s 35th anniversary in November.

It’s time for our close-up. For the past ten years, Centre Stage has produced Fringe Series — Think: lesser known, not as frequently produced shows — during the week, in between the mainstage shows. For the 2023-2024 season, CS is spicing it up.
For the first time, Centre Stage is producing a Fringe Festival that will be performed at the beginning of the season + all three shows will be produced within a two month period.
Sponsored by Prisma Health, this year’s Fringe Festival will feature “thought-provoking and contemporary pieces” including:
“Happy” by Robert Caisley | Thursday, Sept. 7-Sunday, Sept. 10
“Proof” by David Auburn | Thursday, Sept. 28-Sunday, Oct. 1
After reading today’s story about the Centre Stage Fringe Festival, you might have noticed that on Monday the newsletter subject line mentioned it, and were subsequently horrified when you went to read that there was no such story. That’s because I made an oopsie on the title, but I’m here to deliver. I hope you enjoyed it today as much as you would have on Monday.
