Greenville’s newest dinner party

Scoundrel’s “Friends in Mischief” dinner series brings international chefs to Greenville

A collaborative dinner series is on the menu at Scoundrel. Located at 18 N. Main St., this French eatery by Greenville native, Chef Joe Cash, is what he calls “a letter home.” We’re considering this new addition a delicious post script.

In his “Friends in Mischief” series, Chef Joe will bring friends from his culinary journey to our city to collaborate on a four-course meal.

Up first: Chef Marcin Krol — formerly of Maison in Paris. Chef Joe and Chef Marcin worked together at Noma, a three-Michelin-star restaurant in Copenhagen, Denmark run by Chef René Redzepi. Considered one of the best and most influential restaurants in the world, Noma has topped the the list of “World’s 50 Best Restaurants” five times.

“(Scoundrel is) a culmination of all my favorite restaurants and experiences that I’ve come to know after traveling and cooking,” Chef Joe said in June 2022 on the patio of Scoundrel, construction well underway inside. Over a year later, we can’t wait to experience this new dining offering building on that concept.

Reserve your seat at the table for a dinner “inspired by the bounty of the summer season” for $75 (optional $35 wine pairing available) on Friday, Aug. 11 or Saturday, Aug. 12.

Bess and Emily here (aka the Six & Main team). We recently hit the pool for an Aqua Fit Class at the YMCA of Greenville. This dynamic, low-impact workout got our hearts pumping and was the perfect group exercise class for all ages, strengths + abilities. Keep reading for how you can Try This.

What we tried:

Aqua Fit is just one of the many aquatics offerings from the YMCA of Greenville. We took a morning class at the Eastside YMCA with Karen. Did you know? All of the group exercise instructors and trainers are certified in different exercise styles.

Karen put us to work, starting with a warm up and increasing in intensity (but never too intense) for 45 minutes. We chose the class in the shallow end, but if you’re looking for a different experience, you can check out the deep water classes.

My algorithm knows I’m a Greenvillian. It also knows I’m a Swiftie. This news hit my feed yesterday and for a split second I thought, “How did I not know Taylor Swift’s lyric video for ‘This is Me Trying’ featured a Greenville business?” Answer: Because it happened in Greenville, NY. It’s still pretty cool, and it even made it in Rolling Stone.
