Bright (holiday) lights in our little city ✨

DYK: It takes 63,792 bulbs to light up 72 different displays at the Roper Mountain Holiday Lights.

After 25 years, those lights have brought holiday cheer to a lot of people. And we have certainly appreciated the work done by 900+ volunteers who have dedicated over 7,000 hours to plan + execute the month-long fundraising event. But we are also looking forward to seeing next year’s holiday program at Roper Mountain Science Center’s newly renovated planetarium.

Plus, our downtown is filled with twinkling lights during the holiday season thanks to the City of Greenville + other partners. 🙌 All the trees in the ONE Plaza have already been transformed with help from the City and ONE City plaza businesses.

NOMA Square and West End Plaza (outside Smoke on the Water) are taking it up a notch through City partnership with Holiday Happenings: a seven-day family-friendly holiday event showing off our retail, art, dining, and entertainment scenes. (Think: Greenville Heritage Main Street Fridays meets European Christmas Market.).

The week-long holiday event kicks off Dec. 2 with the Poinsettia Christmas Parade (which is a #MustDo, along with post-parade drinks to warm up at Nose Dive). Check out the full event schedule below, featuring caricature artists, plenty of live music, and caroling in the street. Make the most out of Holiday Happenings.

Holiday Happenings is a great way to beat the crowds at the mall or Woodruff Rd. Plus, where else do you get serenaded with holiday tunes while you shop?

Here are a few don’t miss events during the week-long event:

Fine Arts Center Concert | Spill the Beans | Dec. 8 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Calvin Blassingame Caricature Artist | M. Judson, Booksellers & Storytellers | Dec. 9 from 12 – 1 p.m.

Upstate Senior Band | NOMA Square | Dec. 9 from 4 – 5 p.m.

Glow Lyric Carolers | Wells Fargo Alley on Main | Dec. 10 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.

My Girl My Whiskey and Me | NOMA Square | Dec. 10 from 4 – 5 p.m.
