What is Duke’s Hot Tomato Summer?
This annual event is a week-long celebration that showcases local restaurants’ creative dishes featuring, you guessed it, fresh tomatoes and Duke’s Mayonnaise.
Duke’s Hot Tomato Summer got its start in Richmond, VA three years ago (hey, RICtoday ), and was hosted in Greenville — aka the birthplace of that spreadable goodness — for the first time last July. Duke’s partnered with 13 local restaurants , including Northgate Soda Shop and The Bohemian Cafe , which featured specialty dishes like a BLT and tomato pie.
This July, Duke’s Hot Tomato Summer will take over four cities: Richmond, Greenville, Charlotte, and Charleston (lookin’ at you, CHStoday ).
How can I participate?
Calling all restaurants. Interested in featuring a signature recipe with Duke’s and tomatoes to compete for awards during this weeklong event? Sign up by Monday, June 12. Fork and Plough , Harry’s Hoagie Shoppe , and Social Latitude have already signed on to participate.
