It’s almost turkey time, GVL. Thanksgiving is coming up Thursday, Nov. 23 and with the way these last few weeks have flown by, you may already be planning your Thanksgiving day meal.

We asked you for your favorite spots for Turkey Day staples + put together a list of local options to build a meal for the entire family.

Could 2023 could be the year you host an entire Thanksgiving without needing to cook a single thing?

Is your favorite dish missing from our list? Let us know what’s got to be on your table.

The Main Event

Mike and Jeff’s Barbecue , 2401 Old Buncombe Rd. | BYOT. Drop your thawed or frozen turkey off + for $35 they’ll smoke your bird and have it ready for pick up before the big day.

Lewis Barbecue , 214 Rutherford St. | Pick up smoked turkey breast or switch things up with Texas-style brisket. Don’t forget the green chile corn pudding + mac and cheese.

We’re really thankful for pie.

Sides

Sausage Stecca Stuffing | Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery, 205 Cedar Lane Rd. | Made with Stecca bread, local sausage and veggies, this dish is also made with love in the Swamp Kitchen.

Mac and Cheese | Fork and Plough, 1629 E. North St. | Is it even Thanksgiving if there isn’t Southern-style mac and cheese on the table?

Sweet Potato Soufflé | Ji-Roz, 644 N. Main St., #100 | Reader Margaret says she picks up what she needs from Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery, but she leaves “the best sweet potatoes” to Ji-Roz.

Squash Casserole | Rocky’s Hot Chicken Shack, 420 Laurens Rd. | Cheesy, squashy goodness is on the menu, but good luck placing your order without adding on some Coca-Cola Cake.

Dessert

Salted Caramel Apple Pie | Hester General Store, 1735 Hester Store Rd., Easley | Pre-orders are open for this sweet twist on a Thanksgiving classic, with gluten free and vegan options available.

Pumpkin Pound Cake | The Pound Cake Man, multiple locations| If you’re looking to go in a different direction from pie, you can’t go wrong with a different take on a fall-favorite flavor or 70+ other flavors.
