One phrase those of us raised in the South know all too well: “In or out. I’m not paying to air condition the neighborhood.” As adults, we totally get it now – sorry, Mom.

Here are some fun tips to teach your kids how to make smarter energy choices in our always-connected world:

1️⃣ Watch water use. Showers use less water and you won’t have to keep turning on the hot water to warm yourself back up. Also, turning off the faucet while brushing your teeth can save up to 240 gallons of water a month.🚰

2️⃣ Start a project: Use old socks to make an awesome draft snake that you can place in front of doors and windows to help cut down on energy loss.

3️⃣ Don’t stand there with the fridge door open: We all like snacks but keep in mind the refrigerator has to power up and cool down the air you released while browsing for those late-night goodies.

4️⃣ Play a game of “I spy.” Every time you enter or leave a room, have your child point out one way to save energy (or one way energy is being saved). Look out for lights on, items plugged in, and faucets dripping.

Take a Behind the Scenes Tour: Let your kids experience a behind-the-scenes view of how their home is taken care of at Corley Plumbing Air Electric. This in-depth “Touch a Truck” experience takes it to the next level. Kids will get to tour the warehouse, see the equipment trades people use, and participate in a fun hands-on activities.
