Decode your morning joe

coffee beans

One thing you’ll learn off the bat at Greenville History Tours’ new International Coffee Course is that not all coffee is bitter + strong. The coffee Arabica you know and love (or hate) is just one type of bean: there’s also Robusta, which is earthy, softer + tastes almost like tea.

Knowing the differences between your coffee options is the goal of the course – you know you hate Starbucks, but why? The instructor, Vincenzo Antignani, wondered why American coffee didn’t suit him when he moved here from Italy. Now he can tell you how brewing methods make a difference or how Colombian coffee is different from Brazilian.

If you’re obsessed with coffee, you’ll learn about harvesting beans (like the difference between letting the berry of a coffee bean rot away naturally vs. mechanically removing it) + how to roast your own at home. If you’re not a big coffee fan, it’s still the perfect chance to find a blend that works for you or figure out what isn’t your taste + avoid it in the future.

The coffee course begins tonight at Le Petit Croissant – take a group of friends who love coffee as much as you do, or impress them all with your knowledge next time you brew a cup. ☕
