$9.7 million. That’s the purchase price for 2.93 acres in the West End at 106 and 154 Augusta St.(surrounding Gather GVL and by Fluor Field), approved by the Greenville City Council in this week’s meeting . The purpose? More public parking.
What’s on the property now?
The property features Greenlink Transit Authority’s (GTA) current maintenance center. GTA is in the process of building a new maintenance facility at 205 Arcadia Dr. off Poinsett Highway, which will allow for fleet expansion and support service enhancements in the county.
What’s planned for the property?
While additional public parking is currently planned for the Augusta Street space, the purchase will ensure “the future development of the site is in keeping with the GVL 2040 and the Downtown Master Plan .”
