Every spring and fall, thousands of people flock to the Skunk Farm (4063 Jordan Rd.), just north of Greer. No, this isn’t a farm full of skunks, it’s a bluegrass festival that has hosted the likes of Trampled by Turtles, Infamous Stringdusters, and even the Avett Brothers in the past. The festival is kicking off again next weekend (April 12-15), so pull up your britches, dust off your boots, and pull that old tent out of the attic.

Camping: First come first serve
- $35 for general campers (you’ll need to have a festival ticket for each night that you’re camping)
- $85 for RV’s (sorry, no hookups)
- If you’re just hanging for the day, you can park on-site free of charge
The earlier you get there on Thursday, the better chance you have of staking out your preferred spot. Luckily, the farm is fairly small, so getting from your tent to the stage will take no time at all. Pro-tip: If you’re trying to be close to a shower, be sure to snag a spot on Blueberry Hill (here’s a map). They will have port-o-john’s scattered throughout the farm.
Drinking: There are two rules to know (do with it what you will)
- No glass
- No coolers full of beer in front of the stage
Beyond that, it’s pretty much free reign. You can bring a cooler full of your favorite brew, keep it at your campsite, then mosey back and forth from the stage when you need to wet your whistle. Alternatively, Community Tap will be on site slinging hoppy goodness if you’d rather not fool with a cooler, or walking.
Kids + Dogs: Bring ‘em, but keep ‘em on a leash (the dog, not the kids 😏)
Last year, I brought my dog (star of the video below) and my co-worker Ariel had her four young daughters in tow. The farm has a specific area set aside for the kiddos to play + they have activities for them to be involved in while you’re in front of the stage jammin’.
What to bring: your best camping gear + a change of clothes
- Lawnchair (this will make your experience that much better; stake your spot in front of the stage and enjoy)
- Portable charging bank for your phone (this one’s solar + connects to your belt loop)
- Lantern + headlamp (because trying to find the bathroom in the dark is no fun)
- Starter logs + matches (because what’s camping without a fire?)
- Dry shampoo + deodorant + toilet paper (because you don’t want to smell worse than the skunks)
Outside of the essentials, we suggest packing a cooler (full of water, snacks, and your favorite adult beverage), as well as a rain jacket (they’re calling for rain this weekend, with highs of 79 + lows in the 50s), and a good blanket. You can bring a portable grill if you’re on a budget, but they’ll have some savory bites on site for you to munch on.
Alright, now that you’re all set with your game plan, you can snag tickets for the festival here. Ticket prices range from $355 (VIP weekend pass) to $52 for a single day pass. Kids 12+ will get a discounted rate of $20-30 daily and kids 11U + seniors 80+ will get in free (woohoo!).
