Since the opioid epidemic shows no signs of stopping, an Upstate sheriff is tackling the problem head-on. Greenville County Sheriff Will Lewis created GONE (Greenville’s Opioid Narcotic Eradication) after spending years working with narcotics and seeing so many lives affected by opioids.

GONE consists of 15 agencies, activists, and business owners that have been tasked with how to find a solution to the epidemic in the Upstate. Lewis explains the problem affects all people, regardless of race, gender, and socioeconomic status, which is why he brought in such an wide mix of people for the task force.

The group will begin with a brainstorming session and then move into putting their ideas into action. Here’s hoping a change is gonna come.
