On April 16, 1876, the YMCA of Greenville was founded in the basement of a local Methodist church on Buncombe St.
What started as a space for young men has grown into a $30+ million organization serving 85,000+ people across Greenville County.
A mission that evolves
For 150 years, the Y has adapted to the community’s needs while staying true to its mission: to build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, the YMCA of Greenville connects people across generations, backgrounds, and abilities.
Programs that inspire
Youth + education: Preschool, afterschool, summer camp, and SC Youth in Government
Health + wellness: Family branches, youth sports, aquatics, and fitness
Inclusion + community: RECESS program for adults with diverse abilities, LIVESTRONG cancer survivorship, and other evidence-based offerings
A legacy of innovation
The Y brought basketball and volleyball to Greenville, introduced the Boy Scouts, and continues to create signature programs that meet emerging community needs.

Civic
Greenville just scooped up ~17 acres next to Unity Park for $420,000 — a move leaders call a “major first step” toward preserving Reedy River green space. The floodplain could help reduce flooding in nearby neighborhoods while eventually adding trails or amenities, as part of a broader push to protect open space citywide.
Community
#TeachGCS Night returns to Fluor Field tonight, celebrating Greenville County Schools educators with complimentary tickets, in-game recognition, and a community-wide show of appreciation. Hosted with the Greenville Drive, this annual event invites fans to cheer on the teachers who make a difference — on and off the field. Snag tickets.*

The Vault is building 38 high-end “storage condos” off Gladys Drive near Haywood Mall, priced at $369,000 each. Designed for cars, art, and more, half are already sold. Units can be customized — think golf simulators or cigar lounges — with closings expected later this year. (The Post and Courier Greenville)
Development
Simpsonville is eyeing a new future for the former Scuffletown Food Truck Park. City Council gave first approval to rezone the site into a mixed-use “Village Activity Center” with commercial, residential, and service space. A final vote is set for May 12. (FOX Carolina)

Pop quiz. What can you wear while 1) driving 2) drinking your morning coffee, or 3) reading this newsletter to look more awake and help under eyes glow? Under eye patches. Be an under eye patch influencer and work these into your morning routine:

I like to think I’m in the know about all things happening in Greenville, but yesterday I learned something new and very trendy — something I’m guessing parents reading this already know about: NeeDohs.
