Meet the Falls Park Conference District
The site offers walkability to Falls Park and Main Street. | Site plan via the City of Greenville
New plans from the City of Greenville would transform about six acres along Falls Street and East Camperdown. City Council will vote today to secure 14 parcels of land to get the ball rolling.
First reported by the Greenville Journal, the plans feature a hotel and conference center in the heart of downtown, something Mayor Knox White says the city currently lacks.

It’s backed by $500 million in public and private investment. Here’s what funding has been identified so far:
City of Greenville: $135 million investment (from local and state accommodations tax funding + parking revenue) in public infrastructure like the conference center and parking garage
SC General Assembly: $19 million previously allocated for a conference center project
According to VisitGreenvilleSC, this would bring in 100+ new events annually, generating $22 million in new visitor spending and $35 million in incremental economic impact.

Outdoors
Woodie Walk, a new boardwalk and two-story observation deck (let’s be honest, it’s an epic treehouse), is now open at Conestee Nature Preserve. The project marks the reopening of an area ravaged by Hurricane Helene. Get there through the River Entrance and walk straight.
Seasonal
It’s tulip time. Dirt and Grit flower farm opens for u-pick tomorrow, March 10. Plus, Thompson Family Farms is teasing its biggest tulip season ever — stay tuned for dates.

That “spring forward” feels so good, and it means there’s more time to spend outside — something Greenvillians love. Here are 30+ of our favorite parks to enjoy the longer days.
Nestled along the Reedy River and the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail, this park’s labyrinth, boardwalk, gardens, and more are part of its design that aims “to bring people together to share stories of survivorship.”
If you think pickleball is a big dill, this park is for you with its eight lighted pickleball courts, plus a lighted baseball field, mountain biking trail, and the city’s only 18-hole disc golf course.
Just ~5 miles outside of downtown, this 640-acre nonprofit Wildlife Sanctuary has 13 miles of trails and boardwalks, 11 wildlife observation decks, and 40 self-guided learning stations.

I loved the view from the new Woodie Walk, and I love just listening when I explore Conestee Nature Preserve. Their team is small but mighty. They rely on volunteers and fundraising to make it all happen, and their annual fundraiser — The Great Blue Gathering — returns Friday, April 10.
