Come in and cozy up

The interior of Wine House in Greenville. There are blue walls, colorful paintings, cozy lights, a bar with stools, comfy chairs, and wooden tables around the room. Some people are at the bar, some are at tables.

According to new data from Google Trends, search interest in “cozy romance” and “cozy books” is at an all-time high, and searches for “fall romance books” have increased by more than 400%.

That gave us an idea. Grab your cozy, fall-themed read and head to one of the comfiest spots to turn some pages this season in Greenville:
  • Wine House (pictured above) offers cozy interiors and a stellar wine selection to accompany your read.
  • The coffee shop + boutique A20 is the perfect place to tuck yourself into a corner and read while you enjoy a snack.
  • When the leaves turn, a trip outside to Falls Park or the Rock Quarry Garden both offer scenic fall vistas and stunning surroundings for a bookworm’s perfect afternoon.

News Notes

Number

96,350. That’s how many votes 32 Chunk received to win the title of Fat Bear Week 2025 champion. The huge bear won the crown for his salmon-eating dominance in Katmai National Park despite breaking his jaw earlier in the year. Hopefully he doesn’t show up along a local trail. (The Guardian)

Sports

In case you missed it, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny is set to headline Super Bowl LX’s halftime show. The big game is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California — until then, we’ll keep cheering on the Panthers in hopes that they make it. (Variety)

Health

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a nationwide campaign focused on education, early detection, and support. You can step up by registering to walk or run in the 2025 Making Strides of Greenville Walk on Sunday, Oct. 19 at Fluor Field.

Seasonal

Stocking up for trick-or-treaters? In South Carolina, you can’t go wrong with Hershey’s milk chocolate — it’s the most uniquely popular candy in the state, according to a new Instacart study. And let’s be honest: We’ll be sneaking sweets all month long — a little sugar rush pairs perfectly with October’s nonstop festivities.

Shop

Crafters, you need(le) to hear this. Shuttered retailer Joann is sort of back. Michael’s bought Joann and will launch The Knit & Sew Shop, a co-branded “shop-in-shop” across its 1,300+ stores. Cutting tables for fabric sales by the yard are planned for 650 stores by mid-October. Find your local Michael’s.

Finance

Big ideas deserve the right kind of backing. As a leading SBA lender locally and nationally, Huntington National Bank helps small business owners access flexible capital — with features like longer terms, low down payments, and no balloon payments. Talk with a local lender about what’s possible.*

The Buy

The No. 1 best-selling muddy paws doormat. Upgrade your doormat so it doesn’t just passively wipe feet and paws — this ultra moisture-sucking one traps dirt, debris, and mud before it can track onto your floors. Choose your mat size + favorite color and line your entryway.
