Cheers to another year of Fall for Greenville | Photo by GVLtoday
Just 49 days until Bank of America Fall For Greenville—not that we’re counting — and things will look a bit different this year as we say goodbye to Taste Tickets (the currency used to purchase food and other items at the festival). If you attended Jazz Fest, you already got a taste of this change.
Here’s what you need to know for the festival taking over Main Street Friday, Oct. 10-Sunday, Oct. 12:
The 60 food vendors (47 restaurants + 13 food trucks) will accept all major credit cards or event gift cards.
If you’re carrying cash, you will be able to convert it into festival-issued cards at stations around the festival.
A $5 pre-purchase incentive will be credited to anyone who buys a gift card worth $50 before Wednesday, Oct. 8.
What restaurant do you wish would open in Greenville?
Our friends at CHStoday reported this week that Shake Shack is headed to the Lowcountry to open its first SC location. We won’t lie — we have some FOMO.
Editor’s Pick: Danielle would do anything for a Sweetgreen.

Healthcare is one of the biggest expenses you’ll face in retirement — and it’s rising faster than inflation. Even if you’ve been saving and investing, medical expenses could end up higher than you expect. Health insurance premiums are expected to rise about 15% next year, and without government help, out-of-pocket costs could jump more than 75%.
A solid piece of advice (no matter your age): Get professional help. A financial advisor can create a customized retirement strategy to help you navigate these challenges.
Whether retirement is around the corner or years away, here are a few ways to prepare, according to the experts at The Jeffrey Group:
Stress-test your plan against rising costs like medical expenses, property taxes, and insurance premiums.
Build a portfolio with diverse investments that can generate income during retirement.
Start early — making small changes now is easier than scrambling later.

Clemson University kicked off the school year under the (television) lights. It was featured on “Good Morning America” yesterday as part of its “50 States in 50 Weeks” series. ABC’s Will Reeve went live from Memorial Stadium, highlighting the Clemson LIFE program and interviewing Coach Dabo Swinney and President Jim Clements.

I hit the road yesterday morning to the Triangle for a visit with my brother in Durham + the RALtoday team in Raleigh, and I found myself making a pitstop in Winston Salem to write this newsletter. It’s adorable and only ~3 hours from Greenville.
Knowing I needed a spot with good WiFi, I went straight to WStoday’s coffee City Guide and found myself at The Bookhouse. So, whether you’re traveling for work or leisure, let this serve as a great reminder to check if there’s a 6AM City product at your destination. Plus, you can say — with pride — that it all started right in Greenville with GVLtoday.
