News Notes

Civic

Greenville County Council approved a resolution to study development impact fees in unincorporated areas. What’s next? The planning commission will now research potential fees and create a capital improvement plan. This is an early step in a lengthy process and doesn’t guarantee the county will ultimately enact impact fees. (Greenville Journal)

Development

Greenville County is pressing pause on a decision about cluster housing (where residential units are grouped together on smaller lots). County leaders say the current code is being misinterpreted and used to “develop land in a manner detrimental to the citizens of Greenville County.” A public hearing is set for September. (Greenville Journal)

Coming Soon

Fountain Inn is getting a 109-room Springhill Suites hotel downtown on Jones Street. The $20 million project is expected to break ground this fall and open by December 2026. (The Post and Courier Greenville)

Today is the kickoff to Duke’s Hot Tomato Summer, when 45+ local restaurants showcase Duke’s Mayo and summer tomatoes on their menus until Sunday, July 27. We’re headed straight to Rise Bakery for its open-faced tomato sandwich served on sundried tomato basil sourdough.
