Every time you play the SC Education Lottery, you help fund scholarships for Palmetto State students like Sam Haile, Rhett Bissell, and Jessie Eichman.

All three of these college grads received the lottery-funded, merit-based LIFE scholarship and went on to work in the natural resources field. Read: They’re improving SC’s environment.

Here’s what they’re up to:
  • Sam is a wildlife technician.
  • Rhett is a game warden.

If you’re wondering where to park for tonight’s fireworks at Unity Park, the City of Greenville recommends parking downtown and taking the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail. They even timed walking, skating, and biking from River Street to Unity Park.

Coming Soon

Southern Weaving Food Hall will open in Easley on Friday, July 18. Housed in a converted mill near the Doodle Trail, the hall will feature six food stalls — from fried chicken to noodles — plus a full-service oyster bar, a 700-seat venue with a 40-ft outdoor stage, and a family-friendly green space. Festival

A bushel of fun is coming to Swamp Rabbit for Peach Fest on Friday, July 11. Expect kids’ crafts and face painting, Honest Scoop ice cream, plus local brews + eats from the We Got the Beets food truck. Stock up on local peaches, score specials, and enter to win a peachy prize basket.

Award

The Mill at Fountain Inn — once the Ellison Flour Mill — just earned a 2025 SC Historic Preservation Award for transforming the long-vacant 1940s mill into a lively community hub with a brewery, food hall, event space, and green space.

Boots, denim, and a little boot scootin’ boogie are taking over Camperdown Plaza for a free line dancing night on Wednesday, July 9, at 7 p.m. with Viva Dance Fitness and Coastal Cowgirl Line Dancing. All levels welcome.

Outdoors

Ready to hit the trail? Join the SC7 expedition team on Tuesday, July 8, at 9 a.m. for a scenic four-mile hike through Jones Gap State Park. After the hike, stick around for a live electrofishing demo to see how experts study + protect local waterways. More details this way.*

The Wrap

Personally, coconut isn’t my go-to flavor, so some of the other summer sips from local coffee shops also caught my eye:
