Raw bar? Check. Patio? Check. Ice show? Check.

STIR — known for its scratch-made dishes, craft cocktails, and iconic ice — opens in the Prisma Health building downtown on Monday, June 9. I got a sneak peek and loved every bite, from the oysters to start and the matcha cheesecake to finish. See everything we tasted + get a preview of the table-side “ice show” that happens when you order select cocktails.

News Notes

Announced

13 Stripes Brewing is moving from Taylors Mill to Hampton Station. The brewery will take over the former Birds Fly South + White Duck Taco space with an opening slated for spring 2026. As for Taylors Mill, it says it’s on the hunt for the right tenant and has had “several promising conversations.”

Drink

What’s your favorite beer? If it’s Guinness, you’re not alone. Data shows that it’s the most popular beer in SC. (Visual Capitalist)

Plan Ahead

Here’s the tea. Tuesday, June 10 is National Iced Tea Day, and there’s only one way to celebrate. If you have thoughts of iced tea steeping in your mind right now, we recommend checkout cafes in our coffee guide — because where there’s iced coffee, there’s often iced tea.

Read

Pizza Hut’s Book It summer reading program now has an accompanying app. Parents can download the app to set goals, track progress, and redeem rewards (like pizza) for their kiddos. Adults hoping to take part in some summer reading of their own can check out these books written by local authors.

Celebrate National Trails Day

It’s the first Saturday in June which means it’s National Trails Day. We’re highlighting some of Paris Mountain State Park’s trails to celebrate, but hit the button below for even more trails to explore.

Lake Placid Loop

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Length: .75 mile loop
  • Pet-friendly: Yes
You may see wildlife like birds or turtles as you circle the lake, cross a boardwalk foot bridge, and pass the swimming area.

Sulphur Springs Trail

  • Difficulty: Hard
  • Length: 3.8 mile loop
  • Pet-friendly: Yes
Hike this trail if you want to see an old water tower and dam (and hike a pretty steep hill for about .25 miles).

Brissy Ridge Trail

  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Length: 2.9 mile loop
  • Pet-friendly: Yes
Pro tip: There is a hiker’s only portion (which is much steeper than the rest of the trail) and there are lots of tree roots on the ground so watch your footing.

The Wrap

Today’s edition by:

I don’t drink often, so I was really excited to see craft mocktails on STIR’s menu — including a nonalcoholic espresso martini.

And if you’re wondering how much I liked my first early taste, I’m already headed back today for brunch.
