News Notes

Try This
Are you all caught up on “The Last of Us”? No spoilers, but if you’re preparing for the zombie apocalypse, maybe work on your swing at one of these golf clubs.

The Word
Ailurophile. According to linguists, the word that means “cat lover” is one of the most beautiful in the English language. If you’re an Ailurophile yourself, check out adoptable cats at the Greenville Humane Society. (Word Smarts)

Tech
Visa and Mastercard just unveiled an AI agent that can shop and buy on its user’s behalf. Sounds nice if you’re the kind of person who always forgets to get more toilet paper, but can it enjoy a sunny day at the TD Saturday Market? (TechCrunch)

Try This
Looking for a spot to soak up the sun (or laze in the shade)? This tool allows users to find cafes in the sun or in the shade at different times of day — simply type in an address and look around. We think it’s the perfect supplement to our coffee guide.

Real Estate
Now that’s one funky fungi living space. A Montana-based research team recently made a discovery that brings us one step closer to homes made from fungi. While that reality is still years away, Chattanooga is no stranger to unique homes — like this midcentury modern home recently featured on Zillow Gone Wild. (CNN)

Drink
Corona. That’s the most popular big beer brand in South Carolina, according to a Google Trends study conducted by Wine Enthusiast. If that’s not your preferred drink, you can always find more ways to fill your glass in Greenville by exploring happy hour deals at local bars.

Pets
Teddy, Charlie, Lucy, and Max. Those are the most-popular dog names in South Carolina, and we bet you’ll meet a few pups with those names while exploring dog-friendly spots in the Greenville area. (U.S. News & World Report)

  • TSA | On average, it takes ~17 minutes to get through.
  • Map it out | If you’re like us and need to completely visualize a place before you step foot inside, this map of the entire airport will be your saving grace.
  • Food and drink | Grab a bite from the Triumph Taproom or a sandwich from the brand new Sully’s Steamers.
