The Traveling Penny, a new shop next to Marble Slab in The West End, opens tomorrow, April 13. Inside, you’ll find a charm bar, permanent jewelry (coming soon), a photo booth + other accessories.

How it works
Start by choosing your chain from the wall (~$25) + selecting charms ranging from $5 to $12. The jewelry is mostly gold-plated with a small sterling silver section. For an additional cost, you can even make personalized charms. We opted for the GVLtoday logo.
There’s a separate charm bar for kids 10 and under. For $25 they can choose five colorful charms for their chain.
If you miss the opening, you can still try for a prize — it just won’t be free. | Video by GVLtoday
Grand opening celebration
If you’re headed to the grand opening, as you walk in, you’ll be able to get a free prize from the gumball machine which could be a gift or a discount. We hope you get something good.

South Carolina ranked No. 28 on WalletHub’s list of best states for working from home. If you’re a remote-working Greenvillian who’s seeking a little change in scenery, check out these local coffee shops with plenty of outlets and internet connection.
State
Wondering where the most beautiful place in SC is? According to Travel and Leisure, it’s Hilton Head Island. Don’t get us wrong, we love the park — but have they ever seen Falls Park or Lake Jocassee?
Number
$5. That’s how much a Mega Millions ticket will cost you now, up from $2. According to Mega Millions, the costlier ticket could get you bigger prizes; previous $500 winnings would now be $1,000-$5,000. You could buy ~555 slices of sweet potato cake from Brick Street Cafe with that money. (CNN)

Today is the last day of National Library Week, and the best way to observe the occasion is by checking out what the Greenville County Library System has to offer. If you don’t have your card yet, you can start the application process online.
Outdoors
Keep your eyes to the sky tomorrow to catch a glimpse of the “Pink Moon” — but no, it won’t be a different color. April’s full moon has the rosy nickname because the month is associated with spring flowers. See what’s in bloom by strolling through one of Greenville’s parks.
Travel
A new experience from Adventures by Train is offering travelers the chance to tour “around the world by train.” The 100-day trip is completely flight-free, instead crossing the globe via train and “luxury sea voyages.” The trip only has 12 spots available, so we’re starting small (and locally) with Amtrak.
Eat
McDonald’s McDouble meal, Taco Bell’s Luxe Box, and Wendy’s Biggie Bag. Those are three budget-friendly meals from fast food chains named in Parade’s Top 10. If you’d rather eat local without breaking the bank, check out meals under $10 in Greenville.
Festival
If you didn’t win our recently-closed Lovin’ Life Music Fest Giveaway, don’tpack away your glitter just yet. Ticket packages are still available to see 50+ artists live in Charlotte.*

Does Masters weekend have you ready to perfect your golf game? Swing by one of these public courses.
Greer Golf | Owned by the City of Greer, this course has practice facilities + a clubhouse in addition to the course.
Furman Golf Course | After renovations in 2008, this course qualifies as a PGA Family Course.
3’s Golf and Grubhouse | One loop around this approachable 12-hole course takes less than 90 minutes + don’t leave without hitting the unique 18-hole putting course for some humps and bumps.
A targeted red light therapy device — use it to help accelerate wound healing, ease muscle soreness, target cold sores and fever blisters, soothe achy finger joints, and more.
I also got a new hat at The Traveling Penny that I predict may be spotted around our city a lot more after the opening tomorrow — pictured above from my very fun photo booth photo shoot with City Editor Stephanie.
