Become a CTA in the 864

Do you love your city and love sharing your love for your city? If so, we have an idea for you.

City Editor Stephanie here. I recently became a CTA, or Certified Tourism Ambassador, for Greenville thanks to VisitGreenvilleSC. You can do it, too.

What is a CTA?

A Certified Tourism Ambassador knows the area well + can answer questions someone visiting Greenville might have. We were asked, “What was Greenville originally going to be called?” and “What’s the oldest mill in Greenville?”

How do you become a CTA?

Class is in session. First, you enroll in a $25 CTA class. Then, you’ll be emailed some pre-class reading material. I’m not going to lie: it’s a hefty packet, but it’s filled with cool facts about Greenville.

What’s the class like?

Here’s the best part. The class is filled with other people who love Greenville and want to learn more about it. To pass the class, you take an open-book exam.

🚲 Greenville is so classic

Ready, set, race. | Video by GVLtoday
That’s what we like bike. The second annual Greenville Cycling Classic is taking over downtown on Thursday, April 24.

What is it?

The Greenville Cycling Classic is a criterium cycling event (think: a high-speed, multi-lap bike race) on a 0.6-mile course around downtown.

When is it?

All the races happen on Thursday, April 24. The day starts with the men’s amateur category at 3:15 p.m. and ends with the men’s pro at 8:15 p.m., with a lot of racing in between. Peep at the whole schedule.

Who will be there?

Tour de France legends George Hincapie, Bobby Julich, and Christian Vande Velde will be cruising around the course for one lap at 5:15. If you’ve dreamed of riding with the pros, now’s your chance. If spectating is more your thing, you can do that too.

If you want to get involved, volunteer for course tear-down after the race. It would be wheelie nice of you.

The Buy

We all want the best for our pets, and premium care can come at a premium cost. With pet insurance, you can reduce the strain on your budget, whether it’s for treating a chronic condition or an unexpected emergency.*

I had a lot of fun taking the CTA class, and it didn’t hurt that my friend Adam from VisitGreenville SC was one of the instructors. If you’re looking for someone (besides City Editor Danielle and me, of course) who loves our city, Adam is your guy.

ICYMI, he was named as one of GSA’s 40 under 40 for 2025.
