News Notes

Plan Ahead

Did you know “Shucked” is coming to Greenville this month? If you answered “no,” we’ve got an exciting resource for you — our monthly Plan Ahead, a list of some of the biggest events to plan for each month. You’ll never be out of the loop again.

Drink

Starbucks will cut 13 drinks from its offerings next week, with plans to shrink its menu by 30% by September. If you were faithful to the Chocolate Cookie Crumble Crème Frappuccino (say that five times fast), find your fix at a local coffee shop instead. (Business Insider)

Festival

Tickets to the second Fyre Festival, “Fyre 2,” went on sale earlier this week. According to the website, a $1,400+ ticket will get you access to a currently unannounced lineup of musical artists + activities like extreme sports and wellness events — or, you could play it safe and just grab tickets to euphoria. Keep scrolling to see the Spring Fest lineup.

Closing

In case you missed it, Joann Fabrics is closing all of its stores — including its Greenville locations. After shopping the Joann discounts, you can find us hitting up local fabric stores like Carolina Fabric & Interiors. (Fast Company)

The Word

Telephobia. It’s a word to describe the fear some people — primarily Generation Z — have of making or getting phone calls. If your friend would prefer the written word over a call, send them this newsletter as a subtle message that you’d like to hang out this weekend. (CNBC)

If you can’t make it to the brunch festival this weekend, we’ve listed a whole bunch of brunch options (50+ total), along with menu recs and pro tips. Plan your weekend and pour those mimosas. Note: All times listed are brunch-only.

New and noteworthy

Draper Purveying Company | Downtown’s newest brunch place features live music, biscuit benedicts, and breakfast classics like pancakes, french toast, and omelettes.

The 07 | Grab a spot on the patio and try items like the berry + basil crepes or the artichoke, spinach, and potato frittata from the new brunch menu as you listen to a live DJ or music. Don’t worry, the fan-favorite Crispy Brussels Sprout Salad is also on the brunch menu.

HeyDay | This indoor-outdoor, family-friendly spot is already expanding to Saturdays with items like the Liege Chicken Sandwich + the Smoked Salmon Everything Bagel.

Papi’s Tacos Augusta | City Editor Danielle’s pick, this spot is perfect for a drop-in, especially on the faux spring weekend days where you’re looking for an indoor-outdoor brunch spot with unique cocktails.
