How well do you know your neighbor? The Reedy River starts just north of Travelers Rest High School and runs all the way to Lake Greenwood — so it’s literally in many of our backyards. Let’s get to know Greenville’s natural centerpiece:
It sounds like a fun nickname, but it’s really not. The river was called the “Rainbow Reedy” because its waters flowed with a plethora of colors for many years. Why? The shoreline housed many fabric and textile mills that dumped colored dyes into the river.
Snow is in Greenville’s forecast today, with precipitation expected around 8 a.m. through the afternoon. Flakes may not stick because temperatures are expected to be slightly above freezing, meaning snow could melt before hitting the ground. If it does accumulate, totals are projected to be under 0.5 inches. (Greenville News)
Development
Crews have finished installing 10 stories of stairs on Honor Tower — Unity Park’s forthcoming monument that’s expected to open later this year. This is a majorstep in the construction process, but more work needs to be done, like the addition of reflective metal around the staircases.
Coming Soon
A new restaurant will land atop City Market Food Hall this spring: Cabanas Rooftop Cantina. When it opens, expect to see a menu filled with Latin American dishes, a frozen daiquiri bar, and music to add to the ambiance.

The Houston-based chain is quickly expanding through the US, but local owners Brian + Keri Leachman have not yet lettuce know Greenville’s address or opening date. (The Post and Courier Myrtle Beach)

🏗️ The McDaniel’s next level
This is what the second phase of The McDaniel is expected to look like. | Rendering via MHK Architecture
The McDaniel, a luxury condo complex on McDaniel Avenue, has entered Phase 2 of its development process. Keene Development Group + Wilson Associates announced this segment of the project will add 10 more units on top of the 20 units built in the first stage.
This phase of construction should be completed by late 2026 + units are expected to have price tags ranging from $1.95 million to $2.5 million.
If you’re wondering what’s under the roof and behind the Parisian-inspired limestone facades, The McDaniel aims to provide “sophisticated urban living.” Condos feature private elevators, rooftop terraces, two-car garages, and 3,100-4,400 sqft of living space.
Condos built in Phase 1 are expected to be ready this summer and are already in high demand. Interested buyers should contact Wilson Associates.
Would you be surprised if I told you that pepperoni is SC’s favorite pizza topping? According to Newsweek, that’s the state’s topping of choice. Personally, I love pineapple on pizza. That might be a polarizing choice, but Greenville has so many pizza shops that I know some places will have options for me.
