We’re putting together a map of unofficial locations that deserve a historical marker. We can’t wait to show you the finished product, but in the meantime, we thought we’d share a submission:
  • “The Medusa Tree is an historical site and popular destination in Greenville loved and photographed by many. This tree embodies the beauty of nature. My daughter, Natalie Farr, took the most beautiful photo of this tree I have ever seen.” — Shannon Farr
There’s still time to put your favorite location on the map. Submit your unofficial historical marker to our local map by clicking the button below. You have until Tuesday, Dec. 3.

News Notes

Holiday

Happy Thanksgiving. However you celebrate, we hope you enjoy a day of rest, reflection, and community. We here at GVLtoday are thankful for our city, and the fact that there’s always plenty to talk about.

Closed

Reminder: The City of Greenville’s offices are closed today for Thanksgiving. If your weekly trash pickup is on Thursdays, it will be collected tomorrow, Nov. 29 + Greenlink will resume its rides tomorrow at 5:30 a.m.

Development

The City of Mauldin started construction on Maverick Yards — a mixed-use development with townhomes and an entertainment + dining complex. The hope is to transform Mauldin from a “passthrough community into an urban center.” (The Post and Courier Greenville)

Seasonal

Where can you see 88 decorated trees all in the same place? At the St. Francis Festival of Trees, of course. This annual event has returned to the Hyatt Regency and Courtyard by Marriott and will run through Christmas Day. (Greenville Journal)

Health

Remember all the scammy weight loss ads from the ‘90s that promised “magical results” (but never delivered)? Well, thanks to Hers and GLP-1s — the ingredient behind Ozempic® and Wegovy® — we’re not that far off. Start your weight loss journey. Read website disclaimers for important consumer information.*

Greenvillian

Meet Taylor, a local who recently celebrated five years at her job. “Time really files when you are having fun and learning every day,” she said. “Our company culture is absolutely the best and is the reason I will be here for many more years.” See where she works.*

The Buy

A Black Friday sale on the No. 1 bestselling clog on Amazon: Crocs. Buy the Crocs classic clog for up to 45% off in select sizes and colors. Psst — They would make a great holiday gift, too.

The Wrap

My dad is cooking our Thanksgiving feast today, so just to make sure I’m ready, I want to run my checklist by you:
  • Stretchy pants
  • Tupperware for leftovers
  • Gravy (the only thing I’m responsible for since I can’t cook)
  • Tums
Yep, that all checks out.
