Could the Greenville Municipal Court building become a mixed-use development?

The Greenville Municipal Court building could become a mixed-use development after City Council gave initial approval to sell the building for $4 million at its Monday, Sept. 9 meeting.
Although the potential buyer hasn’t officially announced plans for the space, developers have said it will be two multi-story buildings for a mixed-use development.
The building has housed the Municipal Court since the 1940s. The money from the sale will pay back some of the cost of the new Public Safety Complex on Halton Road, which will open this fall. Citing lack of parking and a 2021 flood, this court already planned to move to the new Midtown facility.
After final approval from City Council at a future meeting, City Manager Shannon Lavrin said the sale should go through by the end of the year.

🌳 Biltmore Walk details plans for new public green spaces
Biltmore Walk’s linear park was designed to create harmonious spaces where residents and visitors can interact with the outdoors. | Rendering provided by Biltmore Walk
In case you missed it, the luxurious Biltmore Walk townhome community recently broke ground. The development includes brand-new green spaces and a linear park parallel to Biltmore Drive — and yes, it will be open to the public.
The park was designed by Knight Strategies and will feature three distinct zones, each with its own unique aesthetic and function.
It will also feature a rain and pollinator garden, with intertwining pathways, indigenous flora, and secluded benches.
Middle + Lower
The park’s central area will be a formal lawn space for community engagement and casual recreation. Think: Frisbee, cornhole, dog walking, and outdoor events.
The lower part of the park will have curved boulder walls, indigenous vegetation, seating with scenic views, and a winding pathway outlining a pre-existing creek.
September 11, also recognized as National Day of Service and Remembrance and Patriot Day. Members of the community and firefighters climbed 2,200 steps last Saturday at Fluor Field to pay tribute.
Travel
We left our hearts in San Francisco. Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport is working on a nonstop flight to San Francisco and asked the US Department of Transportation for a $1 million grant to help achieve it. Breeze Airways volunteered for the task and could also add flights to Las Vegas + San Diego. (The Post and Courier Greenville)
The Albino Skunk Music Festival dropped its lineup of 24 artists, and it does not stink. From Wednesday, Oct. 2 to Saturday, Oct. 5, you can feast your ears on artists like Scott Miller, The Reedy River String Band, and Darby Wilcox. (Greenville Journal)
Cause
Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint + the Greenville Humane Society are teaming up for a donation drive. Bring one of these items to Jack Brown’s (19 Augusta St., Ste. H) and get a raffle ticket. The winner will be chosen at the end of Sept., and the prize is a mystery… for now.
