We’ve got our ducks in a row on a ramp

Ducks at Legacy Park can now exit the pond in style

This is some ducking good news. Greenville Parks and Recreation employee Brian Henningsen has created a “duckling rescue ramp” at the Legacy Park Pond that allows ducklings to safely exit the water.

Park-goers and residents noticed that ducks were laying eggs in or near the edge of the pond, and, once the eggs hatched, the ducklings were having a little trouble getting out of the water. This is the first of four planned ramps.

Henningsen said, “I wanted to create something that was simple, functional, and could easily be incorporated into the existing pond area.”

According to this video, it’s a splashing success.
