A celebrity chef is headed to Greenville for this year’s euphoria, taking place Thursday, Sept. 19 to Sunday, Sept. 22. Let’s play a game of Guess Who. We’ll give five fun facts to help you figure out who it is. Scroll slowly.
The clues
He is a regional James Beard Award winner, known for his mastery of Creole and Cajun cuisine + his self-developed “New New Orleans” style.
His skills as a percussionist earned him a scholarship to the New England Conservatory of Music, but he chose to chase his dreams of becoming a chef by attending Johnson & Wales University.
He contributed several recipes to the International Space Station as part of NASA’s efforts to improve the quality of the food supply for astronauts.
In addition to hosting many of his own shows, he was one of sixteen chefs featured in the 1993 Julia Child series “Cooking with Master Chefs.”
If you haven’t figured it out by now, his signature catchphrase is “BAM!”
Joining him is his son Chef EJ Lagasse and award-winning Chef Ryan Ratino, who led Washington DC restaurants Bresca (one star) and Jônt (two stars). This multi-course dinner will feature wines from Wine Access + a pre-dinner meet-and-greet opportunity to interact with the top award-winning talent participating in the euphoria 2024 festival.

This may sound counterintuitive, but did you know that stress can actually work in your favor, according to Harvard Business Review?
Furman’s Center for Innovative Leadership has teamed up with celebrated stress physiologist Dr. Rebecca Heiss to offer a brand-new leadership program titled Furman Fear(less) — a 52-week masterclass starting Friday, April 19 that helps participants transform stress into energy they can use to regain a sense of self + lead a life filled with confidence.
Dr. Heiss, who has a Ph.D. in biology and studied the human stress response, is known for deploying science-backed methods of working through stress and anxiety to make people more effective leaders. The program is split into six chapters:
Know Thyself
Stress, Anxiety & Time
Navigating Fear
Overcoming the Imposter
Boundary Setting
Manifesting Positivity
Pro tip: This program offers both in-person and remote sessions, and participants meet every other month.
Recently I’ve found myself saving new food items I’m dying to try across the Upstate. Notably: This new crepe flight from Barista Alley, these new local breakfast pogachas at Swamp Rabbit Cafe & Grocery, and this cinnamon roll cheesecake from Sidewall Pizza. Okay, now I’m hungry.
