The new year is almost here, which means it’s time to start working on your New Year’s resolutions. Are you trying to get active but don’t enjoy traditional exercising? Try joining an adult league to play a sport — there are plenty to choose from.

Greenville Sports League (GSL)

GSL’s motto is “We plan, you play.” This program takes care of all the set up, secures the venue, and makes the schedule. You can sign up on its website, pay your fee, and get playing. Pro tip: Check out its FAQ page.

You can either sign up with a team, or as a free agent (someone who wants to play but doesn’t have a team). If you sign up as a free agent, GSL will put you on a team with other free agents.

With GSL, you can play:
  • Basketball
  • Bowling
  • Cornhole
  • Darts
  • Fantasy Football
  • Flag Football
  • Kickball
  • Pickleball
  • Soccer
  • Softball
  • Ultimate Frisbee
  • Volleyball
GSL also has opportunities to referee your favorite sport. You may have seen City Editor Stephanie mention she refs and plays sand volleyball.

Greenville County Rec (GCR)

GCR offers a wide variety of sports leagues, and you can sign up as a team or a free agent. The 2024 calendar is already up, so you can plan ahead.

Get your athlete on with:
  • Basketball
  • Kickball
  • Pickleball
  • Soccer
  • Softball
  • Ultimate
  • Ice Hockey
  • Table Tennis
  • Lacrosse
  • Badminton
  • Tennis
  • Curling
The hardest part is signing up, but we know you can do it.

This Giving Tuesday, we’re also excited to spotlight our Greenville-based brand partner Salt Monkey. A portion of proceeds from Salt Monkey goes toward Sammy Gives Back, an initiative that betters our communities and the world.

The only sport I can even remotely play is volleyball. I’ve loved playing with GSL at the Irish Pub and have met a ton of new friends there. Shout out to Dale and his bomb sky ball.
