Your guide to the 2025 Municipal Election in Greenville

Municipal Election Day is less than a month away, Tuesday, Nov. 7, and we’ve done the Googling so you don’t have to. To make this election as easy as possible, we’ve curated need-to-know information to get you ready as you head to the polls, including who (and what) will be on your ballot.
What are we voting on?
In the City of Greenville, you’ll be voting for mayor, three city council members (District 1, District 3, and an at-large seat), and the commissioner of public works.
Before you vote, make sure you’re eligible + registered. The deadline to register by mail is Tuesday, Oct. 10. (Read: Your forms must be postmarked by Tuesday, Oct. 10.) The deadline for in-person registration and online registration has passed.
For context, the deadline to register to vote in person + update your address is 30 days before Election Day.

It’s almost time for Greenville Open Studios, which will celebrate its 21st year of providing free and convenient community access to visual arts November 11-12.
This year, 23 new artists will be joining the Open Studios roster. Did you know? Each year, the Open Studios Executive Committee selects five new artists to be recognized as Dwain Skinner Fellows. This program was created to honor the late Dwain Skinner’s creative influence and legacy within our community.
Other Lands — a neighborhood cafe located at 731 Rutherford Rd. — is now open. Explore the menu featuring coffee, beer, wine, cocktails + food.
Civic
When you have downtown parking woes, a new tool will help you find a spot. The City of Greenville launched a tracker which updates every 30 seconds, providing real-time parking availability to drivers looking for a spot.
Festival
Road closures will be in effect for Bank of America Fall for Greenville later this week. South Main Street will close Thursday, Oct. 12, at 9 a.m. with closures expanding throughout the day.
Coming Soon
King Arthur Baking — a cafe, bakery, and store — will host a pop-up holiday store in the West End from Thursday, Nov. 2 to Saturday, Dec. 23. Shop baking essentials like ingredients, utensils, accessories, kitchen appliances, and — of course — holiday gifts.
Development
The City of Greenville’s planning commission approved a 39-townhome subdivision in the Nicholtown neighborhood at the corner of Faris and McAlister Roads. A developer says they will contribute $45,000 to the city’s affordable housing fund + work with residents to name the subdivision. (The Post and Courier Greenville)
Plan Ahead
Beginning Monday, Nov. 13, the City of Mauldin will only service roll-away recycling carts (read: no more handheld bins) because the Public Works Department is transitioning to a full fleet of side-arm trash trucks. Buy a cart online or in-person at the Business and Development office at City Hall for $50.
Announced
What are you doing in Radio Room’s Swamp? A Shrek-themed rave is taking over the venue on Saturday, Nov. 11 featuring some Shrek-tacular songs by Smash Mouth, Counting Crows, and Skrillex. Get tickets.
Number
$79 million. That’s how much Clemson University’s Board of Trustees approved to build a parking deck on campus. The new garage will be at the intersection of Williamson, Old Stadium, and Perimeter Roads. (The Post and Courier Greenville)

To celebrate the Eras Tour Movie in theatres this Friday, Oct. 13, Berea Arts & Retro will host two Taylor Swift-themed pop art classes (one on Wednesday, Oct. 11 + one on Thursday, Oct. 12). Then, SIP will “Shake It Off” an Eras-themed dance night on Thursday, Oct. 12.
