Celebrate the grand opening of The Commons Phase II
Plus, there are more places to grab a seat. | Photo by GVLtoday
Remember when we told you about 18 new tenants coming to The Commons phase two? We now know some of the local food spots that will be serving in the food hall starting next year.
Have a pizza party featuring sourdough crust and fresh sauces at Luna Pizzeria
Chow down on ramen, pho, and carbonara at Noodle Night
DYK Luna Pizzeria and Noodle Night are from Chef Alex George, owner of Golden, Brown & Delicious?
Phase two of the food hall and community hub broke ground in April and is expected to be complete by late spring or early summer 2024.
The Parker Group, the developers behind the project, says the 30,000-sqft, two-story expansion will integrate The Commons with Unity Park and the surrounding area.
It won’t stop there. Plans are already in the early stages for phase three of The Commons, and The Parker Group says there will be “so many other exciting things” when we look at The Commons in a decade.

If mouthwatering barbecue sounds good right about now, head over to Home Team BBQ, a family-friendly restaurant beside the new Swamp Rabbit Trail extension (that now connects to Holland Park).
Home Team BBQ offers creative daily specials, great tunes, and an extensive bar program (we recommend the signature frozen cocktails, Gamechanger + Irish Coffee). Slow-smoked meat is the center of the menu, surrounded by shareable appetizers, traditional sides, delicious salads, and twists on the classics (think: BBQ nachos, carnitas tacos, and smoked chicken wings).
As the weather cools off and we head into fall, folks can use the greenspace beside the restaurant as a picnic area — so bring a yard game, be ready to hang out, or simply use the space to get the kids’ wiggles out before dinner.
Interested in taking the team home?Catering, pick-up, delivery, and full service events are also available.
Governor Henry McMaster has issued Executive Order 2023-29, declaring a State of Emergency in anticipation of Hurricane Idalia for SC. Local meteorologists predict Greenville will see remnants of the storm (read: isolated showers + wind gusts) on Wednesday.

Greenville City Council approves $1.1 million for tree canopy
Greenville lives up to its name. | Photo by James Simpson Photography
In a recent meeting, the City Council accepted a staff report that recommended these priorities:
Purchasing land within the city limits for tree planting
Funding landscaping and trees in affordable housing projects
Expanding tree planting on private property
In accordance with the Landscape and Tree Preservation Ordinance — established for the protection and replacement of trees — property owners can either replace trees or pay a fee to the fund when trees are removed. The mission is to regrow the tree canopy without hindering development
How can you help? The City is asking residents to identify “heat islands” (read: areas that experience higher temperatures than outlying areas) to “reduce utility costs and enhance quality of life.” Stay green, Greenville.

Home
The piece of furniture we’re drooling over: this Poly & Bark leather ottoman pouf in cognac brown. Hello, soft leather and beautiful living room.
Fun fact about me: I referee and play sand volleyball at the Irish Pub, and I can’t wait for them to be back open to the public. Yelling “SERVE” 50+ times a day just doesn’t feel right without the customers staring at me.
