Greenville County’s new $65 million administrative complex opens today, Monday, July 17.
While the building changed, from the old County Square to the new 250,000-sqft building, the address is staying the same — 301 University Ridge.
We’re giving you a peek inside the new building while highlighting some of the county services you may be looking for.
The building
Featuring two five-story towers connected by a terrace and bridge, the new building will house Greenville County’s administrative offices (and 500+ county employees) plus services for county residents.

Lobby level
In addition to self-service kiosks (which will help you find the forms you need to cut down on wait times), you’ll find the county’s tax and property services here. County Council chambers are also on the lobby level, and there is space for future retail.
Terrace level
Two probate and two magistrate Courts are moving to the terrace level of the new building.
Parking
An eight-story parking garage will serve the building, boasting 1,000+ parking spaces.

What’s next?
The old County Square and parking lot will be demolished as work continues on the $1 billion County Square Redevelopment. This office building is the anchor of that project, and the transformation of University Ridge is just beginning. It could be a decade before everything is complete.

Hiking guide for Greenville
Paris (Mountain) is always a good idea. | Photo by @upstatedaily
If you’re looking for some shade in this summer heat, a hike may be the perfect way to hide under some trees.
Lake Placid Loop, Paris Mountain State Park, 2401 State Park Rd.
Difficulty: Easy
Length: .75 mile loop
Pet-friendly: Yes
Hike this trail if you want lake views and (mostly) flat ground. You may see wildlife like birds or turtles as you circle the lake, cross a boardwalk foot bridge, and pass the swimming area.
Hike this trail if you want to see an old water tower and dam (and hike a pretty steep hill for about .25 miles). Pro tip: It’s easy to get lost on this trail since it has an upper and lower section so download a map of the park to your phone before you go.
Speaking of County Square, a few weeks ago, we shared news of “The Perch Kitchen & Tap” coming to the development. After feedback from the community, Chicago-based 4 Star Restaurant Group says it wasn’t aware of Perch Gastropub and will be renaming its County Square concept.
