German automotive supplier set to open US headquarters in Greer

We feel the need, the need for speed. After seven years of scouting out the area, Wenker, Inc. — a German automotive supplier — chose Greenville County as the home for its new headquarters. The company will invest $3.1 million in Greer and will add 27 jobs to the market. Greer Mayor Rick Danner says that he hopes Wenker will “always feels welcome in the city.”
After establishing operations in Spartanburg in 2016, Wenker, Inc. has decided to move operations and launch a new manufacturing site in Greer on East Phillips Road, not too far from the Greer Heritage Museum. Wenker, Inc. is a metal and construction company with products ranging from ovens to robots — yes, we said robots. Wenker’s partners include BMW, Volvo, and Toyota.
The 131,400-sqft plant — roughly three-quarters of the size of Biltmore Estate — is slated for completion by mid-2024.
Greenville County Council Chairman and Greenville Area Development Corporation Board Member Dan Tripp said this company is an “ideal addition” to the area. According to Wenker’s Owner Stefan Leers, “The US-Wenker story is becoming an exciting one.” Leers says the community has, “felt like home from day one.”

Bonjour, GVL. Danielle here. I recently explored wines from France with the help of Lowes Foods at the Pelham Road location’s monthly wine and cheese pairing.
At a price point of $15, you’ll sip four samples of wine (plus a bonus fifth pour of your favorite) along with a plate full of cheese, and you’ll leave with the knowledge to impress your guests at your next gathering. Here’s how you can Try This.
What we tried:
We tried four varieties of French wine:
Barton & Guestier Vouvray
Mâcon-Villages Chardonnay
Chapoutier Belleruche Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge
Chevalier du Grand Robert Bordeaux Supérieur
Bonus: They try to keep the price point of each bottle under $20.

In total, 18 new tenants are coming to The Commons. | Photo by Upstate Business Journal
Golden Brown & Delicious Owner and Chef Alex George announced two new concepts coming to Phase II of The Commons, and we’re counting down the days to February 2024 when we can get a taste.
Noodle Night
GB&D fans know Monday is the best night of the week when Chef Alex shares creative noodle dishes ranging from ramen to pasta. Soon, you’ll be able to celebrate every night.
Appropriately named “Noodle Night” will feature build-your-own noodle dishes + staff-recommended creations. Also planned for the menu: bubble tea, a sake bar, vegan sushi, yakitori, and banh mi-style sandwiches.
Luna Pizzeria
In an adjoining stall, Chef Alex will bring his fan-favorite pizzas (which you can only get on select days at GB&D) to the menu of Luna Pizzeria. Featuring New York-style pizza by the slice and other Italian-style specialties, the dough will be made in-house in a custom wood-fired oven.
As promised, I got a taste of O-Ku and I’m here to report back: It’s delicious. The restaurant opens tonight, so make your reservations. Oh, and right next door, Indaco is now serving up Saturday + Sunday brunch.
