Danielle here. As we wind down from the Fourth of July festivities it’s time to celebrate the weekend. One of my favorite summer activities is visiting the Travelers Rest Farmers Market. There’s just something special about drinking an iced coffee and indulging in a local breakfast bite as I shop for my local produce.   • We’ll be frank, we think Greenville has some great hot dogs. Celebrate the dog days of summer with our hot dog guide.
Closed
  • Smiley’s Acoustic Cafe — located in the West End — closed its doors Sunday, July 2 after 17 years of business. Owner Mike Frazier told the Post and Courier the closure was due to an increase in rent and insurance. Mike will continue operating Smiley’s Acoustic Café Easley at 110 S. Pendleton St.
Eat
  • GVL foodies, listen up. A month-long event featuring new plant-based dishes across Greenville kicks off Saturday, July 1. The Vegan Challenge is organized by Vegan Outreach — a nonprofit organization working to encourage local restaurants to increase their plant-based offerings.
