Kenny Rogers: Singer, songwriter, actor… and photographer.
The Upcountry History Museum (UHM) opens its new exhibit, “Through The Years: Kenny Rogers Photographs of America,” this Saturday, March 4 — making UHM the second museum in the country to host the late star’s work.
The collection — much of which was influenced by notable photographers like John Sexton (former assistant to Ansel Adams) — features 60 color and black and white photographs of America taken while on tour. Spot celebrities (think: His close friend, Dolly Parton) and everyday working people in the photos.
Kenny’s ties to the Upstate will also be on display, with the exhibit featuring artifacts from Rogers’ performances at Clemson University’s Littlejohn Coliseum and photos of his 2014 performance at the Peace Center by tour photographer Randy Dorman.
“Through The Years: Kenny Rogers Photographs of America” will be on display through Sunday, June 18.
Click below to learn more about the exhibit and purchase tickets.
Editor’s pick: Sonny and Cher, Thelma and Louise, Batman and Robin... there are some iconic duos out there, but none compare — in my humble opinion — to Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. Whether it’s the holiday season or Christmas in July, Kenny and Dolly’s “Once Upon a Christmas” album is on repeat in my house.
