Earlier this week, Greenville Technical College + Prisma Health broke ground on the future Prisma Health Center for Health & Life Sciences on the college’s Barton Campus (South Pleasantburg Drive).
Greenville Technical College President Dr. Keith Miller, in the company of Governor Henry McMaster and community + Prisma Health leaders, describes the new center as a “dynamic learning commons,” as it will be a hub in the heart of campus surrounded by the college’s library, student center, and more.
“I can foresee the future every time I come to this technical college… You can see the future written everywhere, particularly on the faces of these students…this place is a gold mine,” said Gov. Henry McMaster.
Let’s take a look at the center by the numbers:
$12 billion: Life science industry’s economic impact on SC
1,033: Life science companies operating in SC
$70 million: Project cost
$1.5 million: Donation amount from Prisma Health (No. 1 employer of Greenville Tech graduates)
12: Years of planning
125,000: Center’s square footage

THE WRAP
Today’s issue was written by Kyle.
Editor’s pick: One of my favorite fall activities is picking through antiques + vintage goods among the Upstate’s antique stores, flea markets, and auctions — I spent more hours than I could count at The Vintage Market of Greenville + The Rock House Antiques last month. I’m on the hunt for some more spots — what are your favorites in the area? Let me know.
