Friday Jr., Thursday, whatever you call it... there’s a reason to celebrate. Now through the end of August, Piedmont Natural Gas Downtown Alive (benefiting Metropolitan Arts Council) takes over NOMA Square each Thursday. What’s better than free music (and a free dance floor)?

Danielle here. From grooving your way into the weekend, munching on local bites + sipping a wide selection of craft brews and wines, here’s how you can Try This.

What we tried:

From the moment you step into NOMA Square, the music makes you want to dance. I listened to Cosmic Collective, a funk and jazz band, and I love the variety of artists taking the stage all summer long. Peek at the full 2023 lineup.

What’s a concert without something to eat and drink? Click the button below for how we indulged.

What not to miss:

You can’t miss the local food truck each week. Everything Eggroll was on site when I stopped by. You’ll experience a variety of cuisine from local chefs and businesses throughout the summer.

To wash it down, the beer truck features 20+ brews. If you prefer wine, there’s a tent pouring reds and whites. Plus, grab a Pepsi product if you’re looking for something non-alcoholic.

Don’t forget your wristband and drink tickets at the intersection of Main and North Streets.

Downtown Alive benefits the Metropolitan Arts Council, but you can also support the arts right on site. The Arts Tent features local artists and art organizations. Makers Collective was there promoting the Indie Craft Parade when I was there. You can also explore the other local vendors.

How you can experience this:

Experience Piedmont Natural Gas Downtown Alive in NOMA Square every Thursday from now through the end of August. The party goes from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
