Whether you need to fill a few credits or want to get ahead so you can graduate early, summer classes at GTC are a great option. | Photo provided by Greenville Technical College
Heading home for the summer doesn’t have to mean pressing pause on college progress. Students enrolled at another college or university can take advantage of summer courses at Greenville Technical College as a transient student — earning credits that transfer back to their home institution while saving time and money.

Each summer, hundreds of students use Greenville Tech to stay on track academically. Whether they’re catching up, getting ahead, or easing their fall course load, summer classes offer a flexible way to keep moving forward.

Benefits for transient students include:
  • Cost savings compared to many four-year universities
  • Transferable credits approved by a dean or academic advisor
  • Popular courses available, including Anatomy & Physiology, English, Public Speaking, and Probability & Statistics
  • A streamlined enrollment process with just a few steps to apply
Students attending schools like Clemson University, University of South Carolina, or other colleges can take advantage of summer at Greenville Tech to stay on track or even graduate early.

News Notes

Civic

Greenville City Council is considering a change that would require bars, breweries, and entertainment venues to get city approval before opening. The proposal is part of broader city code updates, including caps on ticketed events at bars and nightclubs and tighter noise restrictions, all aimed at increasing oversight of Greenville’s nightlife. (The Post and Courier Greenville)

Announced

The Upstate Shakespeare Festival returns with two summer shows this year: “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” from May 21 to June 21 and “The Two Noble Kinsmen” from July 9 to July 25. Ready to break a leg? Auditions are set for April 11.

Traffic

Railroad construction has closed crossings near Hampton Station, including East Bramlett Road. Peep this map to see where access is still open via Mulberry Street or West Washington Street near the Amtrak station, then under the bridge to Bramlett Road and into the parking lot.
What was Greenville like in the 90s? The city hopped on the latest social media trend, and it has us feeling all the nostalgia.

Tech

If your computer overheats with a few tabs open or sounds ready for liftoff, the problem might not be your device — it’s likely your antivirus. Many big-name brands are bulky + full of pop-ups. Post of the Day

What’s a Watergoat? This floating debris barrier and trash trap is designed to intercept litter, plastics, and styrofoam in streams, canals, and stormwater systems. There’s one on Oak Grove Lake that has been keeping the main lake clean for more than five years.

According to the brand that developed the technology, 191 have been installed, preventing 322 tons of debris from entering public waterways around the country.
