iMAGINE STEAM Festival takes over Main Street this Saturday, April 4, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with hands-on experiments, build-your-own challenges, and interactive demos for all ages — think: elephant toothpaste explosions, DIY earthquake structures, and even a chance to try your hand at TV weather forecasting.
It’s free to attend and features 65+ exhibits and vendors.
SC’s candidate filing window closed at 12 p.m. yesterday, locking in the field for this year’s state and local races, including the Gubernatorial race, a Senate seat, and several Greenville County contests. Party primaries are June 9, followed by the Nov. 3 general election. See the full candidate list here. (The Post and Courier Greenville)
Number
1,500. That’s how many more riders Greenlink hopes to see by the end of the year on its free downtown trolley, which is getting a reset with a shorter, Main Street-only route featuring more frequent stops starting this spring. It would be a 20% boost in ridership. (The Post and Courier Greenville)

USC School of Medicine Greenville welcomed ~140 kindergarteners from Robert E. Cashion Elementary for a hands-on Doctors’ Day field trip. Paving Writing a new trail
We’ll go first: Roses are red, Greenville is green... | Photo by GVLtoday
This summer, the GVL Poetry Trail wants to turn everyday spots — like public spaces, local businesses, and parks — into an interactive poetry experience.
But they need your help. Locals get to write the pieces along the trail. Submit original work by Wednesday, April 15, with winning pieces earning cash prizes, public display, and live readings during Artisphere weekend.
Led by Wits End Poetry, the project is a celebration of the organization’s 25th anniversary, which is coming up in 2027. It’s looking for poems about hyperlocal nature, food, sports, history, culture — all rooted in what makes Greenville Greenville.
“We want the poetry to drive some of the locations, but we do know that the first stops will be along Main Street in Downtown Greenville and around Heritage Green,” the project specified. "(Stops) may include coffee shops, southern restaurants, art galleries and museums, bookstores, libraries, a baseball-related museum, the Swamp Rabbit Trail, and public art and landmarks.”

Pro tip: If you’re heading to the iMAGINE Upstate STEAM festival this weekend, The Spinx Market has $6 kids’ meals. It’s also my favorite spot to grab a fresh (Methodical) coffee or a crispy fountain drink before I stroll a Main Street festival, which is good to keep in mind with Artisphere, the TD Saturday Market, and Jazz Fest returning soon.
