$9 billion. That’s the total export value of BMW X models produced at Plant Spartanburg in 2025 — leading the US in automotive exports. That’s 200,000 BMWs exported to 120 Countries.
Announced
The People’s Tap announced it is temporarily closed after losing liquor liability insurance required to operate in SC. The owners said their policy renewal no longer met updated state requirements, and they’ve been unable to secure new coverage. Stay tuned for updates.
Traffic
Woodruff Road relief is getting pricier. A planned 2.5-mile parallel parkway meant to ease congestion is now estimated at $277 million, more than double the original $120 million projection. Officials say inflation and rising construction costs are to blame. The project is now expected to finish in 2031. (The Post and Courier Greenville)
Travel
GSP is planning a new air traffic control tower, replacing the airport’s original 1962 tower. The FAA is expected to award a contract in mid-2026, and construction could start this year. The 12-level tower — estimated at $10 million–$40 million — comes as the airport sees record growth and prepares for future expansion. (The Post and Courier Greenville)

United Way of Greenville County will host Hands On Greenville Day on Saturday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Nonprofits, schools, and community groups are invited to submit service projects — from park cleanups to food box prep — for thousands of volunteers to serve across the county.
