Maintaining clean storm drains not only supports the ecosystem but also ensures safer, cleaner water for community use. | Photo provided by Greenville County Soil and Water Conservation District
Storm drains might look harmless, but what goes into them has a direct impact on local waterways. Unlike household drains, storm drains do not filter water. Anything that enters them flows straight into nearby rivers and streams.
Storm drains carry rainwater directly into waterways with no filtration system
Litter, chemicals, and pollutants tossed into drains end up in rivers
Polluted stormwater negatively affects water quality, wildlife, and ecosystems
In Greenville County, storm drains flow directly into the Reedy River, a vital waterway for the community. Keeping storm drains clean helps protect the river’s health and ensures cleaner water for everyone who lives, works, and plays nearby.
Protecting local waterways starts with everyday actions. Simple choices — like properly disposing of trash and preventing pollutants from entering drains — can make a meaningful difference.

Sneak peek of Artisphere 2026
Reporting live from the official Artisphere lineup release party. | Photo by GVLtoday
Artisphere is 87 days away — not that I’m counting or anything — and we’re getting a taste of what’s to come with the official artist lineup announcement.
This year’s festival features 140 artists across 17 mediums from 34 states. Fun fact: Only one in eight artists who apply gets accepted, making Artisphere one of the most competitive art shows in the entire country.
The weekend of May 8-May 10, we’ll meet 47 artists who are brand new to the festival, but we’ll also see some returning favorites along artist row — find out who.

Here’s to your teen’s next big step
Growing up comes with plenty of firsts. With a Cash App Card, teens have a safe way to practice saving, managing money, and spending — all with their own debit card, and you as their guide.‡
In case you missed Ice Cream for Breakfast Day on Saturday morning, I made a recap Reel. This is one of my favorite mornings of the year, and it was even sweeter because I met so many of you who said you learned about the event from this newsletter.
That is the greatest compliment I can ever receive — that you are out and about exploring Greenville. It’s such an honor to write every day, and I am so thankful to all of you who read it.
