Greenvillians are so good at supporting local that WalletHub named our city one of the best in the US to start a business last year.

In honor of our many movers and shakers, we’re asking readers to nominate small businesses they love so we can share them with the whole audience.

We’ll be here to share a new batch of small businesses every month, so bookmark this page to come back for more, especially if you’ve enjoyed our Small Business Week and Today’s Best coverage.

Editor’s Pick

The Cook’s Station | Retail
Family-owned and operated for over 30 years, I love how this business is a one-stop shop for kitchen goods. Plus, sip a glass of wine while you shop and grab a bite to eat in the cafe. The fan-favorite cooking classes are also a hit, but they sell out, so sign up early.

News Notes

Today Is

Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Today, you can honor the life and legacy of King by visiting the “The Dream” exhibit at McAlister Square, featuring rare photos and images.

Number

6,000. That’s how many meals Meals on Wheels can now distribute across Greenville County with its brand new facility, up from 2,000 in its old space. Today is the first day they’re delivering from the new building off Augusta Road.

Mansion Monday

Did you see that one of our previous Mansion Mondays got picked up by Zillow Gone Wild? The Instagram account — with 2.2 million followers highlighting unique properties around the world — showcased this Asian-inspired estate, a private retreat atop 10 acres on Paris Mountain.

Ranked

No. 5. That’s where The Children’s Museum of the Upstate ranked on Travel + Leisure’s list of the best children’s museums in the US. “Separate spaces for toddlers, along with arts, music, and STEAM offerings, keep the experience flexible for families with kids of different ages,” the publication said, lauding the 80,000 sqft destination.

Eat

Want to get paid to taste-test Whataburger? The chain is recruiting Greenville-area volunteers to sample new chicken menu items in development. Selected participants will test products at the Pelham Road location and receive a $150 Mastercard gift card. (The Post and Courier Greenville)

Fun Fact

Did you know one of the world’s rarest plants can be found in Greenville County? The endangered bunched arrowhead survives only in rare Piedmont seepage forests near Travelers Rest and Furman. Conservationists say rapid development threatens its future, making habitat preservation critical to keeping it alive. (The Post and Courier Greenville)

Tonight is the College Football Playoff National Championship. If you’re looking for a place to watch with fellow fans, any of these will be a touchdown.

Lefty’s | Grab a smash burger (pictured) and settle in to watch on the indoor big screens.

Local Cue | This spot off Haywood Road has some of the best wings in the South.

Home Team BBQ | For some, it’s not gameday without the iconic “Game Changer.”

The Goat Bar & Grill GVL | This downtown spot in the West End is serving all the football fixins.

Yard House | I’m not sure if there’s a seat in this place that doesn’t have a view of a screen.

The Buy

Our favorite two-piece set featuring a knit sweater vest and pants. Pair it with your favorite cardigan for winter wardrobing, then wear it on its own as the weather warms for effortless, year-round style.

The Wrap

Football may be the topic of the day, but it feels like hockey has been taking over social feeds with the smashing success of “Heated Rivalry” on HBO.

One of my favorite local hockey traditions hits the ice at The Well this Saturday, Jan. 24 — the Palmetto Cup between South Carolina and Clemson.

Bonus: Your ticket gets you in for two matchups the rivalry showdown at 1 p.m. followed by the Swamp Rabbits’ NASCAR Night game.
