The Quadrantid meteor shower is expected to peak this weekend. If you’re trying to spot these elusive meteors streaking through the sky, bundle up and head somewhere dark. Consult this chart for the best viewing hours for your location + check out the Dark Skies International map for spots with lower light pollution.

Plus, check out this recent article from the Greenville Journal featuring other winter stargazing tips, including how to visit The Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (one of only two Dark Sky Parks in NC) and the Roper Mountain Science Center’s Charles E. Daniel Observatory (home to a historic 23-inch refractor telescope).
