Next year, the city will build a new comprehensive plan around the thing that puts the green in Greenville — our trees. The Urban Forest Comprehensive Plan will:
Outline the city’s long-term urban forest vision
Complete an inventory of the city’s urban forest
Provide recommendations for the city’s tree ordinance
Examine a potential tree endowment fund
The plan will focus on “strengthening environmental resilience, public health, and community quality of life.” The process kicks off in January, and there will be opportunities for public feedback along the way. We’ll keep you posted about when and where.

Clemson’s Board of Trustees has appointed Executive Vice President and Provost Bob Jones as interim president beginning Jan. 1, following President Jim Clements’ retirement. The Board also launched its presidential search committee and will hire a national search firm. A new president is expected to be named by fall 2026.

Greenville’s wheelsports park is rolling into its final design phase. Updated conceptual designs were unveiled at this week’s public meeting. The city will refine plans based on community feedback before presenting the project to the city council in February, with construction slated to begin in 2027. (Greenville Journal)

Greer is moving forward with its new 26-acre sports and events complex after the city council approved a $69.3 million package to cover the 205,000-sqft main building — which features up to 16 volleyball courts, a fitness gym, community room, and cafe. Pickleball fans, this one’s a smash.The Pickle Yard — a new indoor pickleball and sports park — is set to open in Mauldin by Christmas. Expect six pickleball courts, padel, golf simulators, a full bar called Dilly’s Oasis, and plenty of space to play, lounge, and gather. (Upstate Business Journal)
