A church near Unity Park is leading a community master plan for Newtown. Mountain View Baptist, which owns most of the land, is seeking the city’s help to rezone and build mixed-income housing, retail, green space, and gardens. Monday’s city council meeting was packed with headlines, but it was also the farewell meeting for City Councilmember Russell Stall. Stall served two terms before stepping away, and he is now teaching urban planning at Clemson.
