The 19th Annual Dine Out For Mom is less than one week away on Thursday, Oct. 23. Across the Upstate, 176 restaurants will donate 20% of their profits from the entire day to Let There Be Mom — a local nonprofit that preserves the legacies of parents with life-threatening illnesses.

You can also purchase raffle tickets to support the cause, with the grand prize being a gift card from every participating restaurant.

Development

Civic

Simpsonville has officially approved rules for short-term rentals like Airbnbs and Vrbos. Property owners must now apply for permits, name a local rental agent, and limit stays to 30 days or less. Existing hosts have 120 days to comply or face a $250 fee. (Greenville Journal)

Eat

Lucy Anne’s, a new pop-up from former Husk Barbeque sous chef Michael Rednak, is blending upstate New York roots with Southern fare, with items like fried chicken-stuffed pasta and Hoppin’ John arancini. Catch the next stop at Wine House on Wednesday, Oct. 22. (Greenville Journal)

Shop

Soby’s may be turning 28, but they’re giving you a gift. From now until 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, snag a $50 Soby’s Birthday Gift Certificate for just $25. The full value is valid for dine-in use during November — after that, it’s redeemable for the purchase price.

80. That’s how many households Greenville Together: A Home for All aims to rehouse by the end of 2025. Since launching its “housing surge” in July, 20 households (32 people) have already secured homes, marking progress toward the group’s goal of making homelessness in Greenville “brief, rare, and nonrecurring.” (Greenville Journal)

Post of the Day

Is “The King of Country Music” coming to Clemson? Check yes or no. According to Clemson Barstool, Death Valley Nights — which will bring concerts back to Memorial Stadium starting this spring — will announce the first concert in 26 years today.

Barstool’s post features an iconic black cowboy hat on a mic stand.
George Strait also shared a poster from the George Strait Country Music Festival (held at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium in 1999). He says it’s a clue for a 2026 announcement. Yes — that does appear to be a “like” from Clemson University.

If that doesn’t seal the deal for you, Strait posted a No. 26 Clemson jersey with “Strait” across the back on his Instagram story. Fellow country singers Wyatt Flores and Cody Johnson also posted Clemson jerseys on their stories.

Amarillo Clemson by mornin’? We’ll keep you posted.

The Wrap

Are you even from Greenville if you don’t proudly proclaim that we have some of the best drinking water in the US? In an effort to celebrate that, the Swamp Rabbits want you to bring some with you to opening night tonight.

Before the game, head to the plaza, pour your contribution into the barrels, and they’ll filter it for the Zamboni to smooth the ice this season.
