It’s time to play ball, because baseball is back at Greenville’s Mayberry Park. Yesterday, a ribbon-cutting and ceremonial first pitch welcomed the next generation of ballplayers, a century after the park originally opened.
In 1925, Mayberry Park was the city’s only recreational space available to Black children during segregation. Despite its rough fields and sparse amenities, it became a cornerstone for the Southernside, West Greenville, Sterling, and Greasy Corner neighborhoods — and laid the groundwork for Greenville’s baseball roots.
After years of neighborhood advocacy and a $3.3 million investment, the city has restored Mayberry Park as a state-of-the-art Little League field within Unity Park. Funded through a public-private partnership — led by Greenville Drive owner Craig Brown and his wife, Vicki — the field now boasts grandstands, tunnels, concession stands, and historic panels honoring its past.
Meridian’s original hair trimmer, now 40% off for Labor Day. This unisex shaver was built for beards, chest, legs, and bikini lines, is 100% waterproof, and was top rated by Elle, Esquire, GQ, and Forbes. Psst — Shop tons of great markdowns like this one while Labor Day sales last.
The fun doesn’t have to end here. After reading the newsletter, head over to our games page. Games refresh with new challenges every day at 6 a.m. from crossword puzzle to Sudoku to themed word search.

I am so excited to share the incredible list of Greenvillians embarking on their Leadership Greenville journey as Class 52. It was an honor to be on the selection committee to help select this group of individuals. If you’re on this list, keep an open mind, ask lots of questions, and take as many notes as possible — you won’t want to forget a single moment.
It was this time last year that I began my own experience as a member of Class 51. Peep some of my favorite memories from the experience below.
Although it will be several months before applications to join Class 53 open, registration for Opportunity Greenville is now available. The five-week program starts on Sept. 29 and explores the inner workings of Greenville.
