Think Duke’s Mayonnaise and summer-ripe tomatoes go together like peanut butter and jelly? Then grab your calendars and add Duke’s Hot Tomato Summer, returning to Greenville Thursday, July 17-Sunday, July 27. This annual week-long celebration showcases local restaurants’ creative dishes featuring, you guessed it, fresh tomatoes and Duke’s Mayonnaise.
Check out this participating list of restaurants and get ready to dig into this summer classic. These spots are on our must-try list:
Rise Bakery | The tomato pie Danish caught our eye, along with an open-faced tomato sandwich served on sundried tomato basil sourdough.
The Bohemian Cafe | This spot will have a full Hot Tomato Summer menu with a Bloody Mary, fried green tomatoes, a fried green tomato BLT, tomato pie, and a chocolate mayo cake (with tomato bacon fig jam).
Little Secret | A roasted chicken salad and tomato sandwich is on this menu, served on toasted sourdough.
You’ll be full from your head to your toma-toes.

Looking for your next home — or just curious about the Upstate’s newest community?
See what’s on the horizon at Sunrise, nestled between Clemson and Anderson/I-85 in tranquil Pendleton, SC.
Featuring one and two-story homes from the low $400s, Sunrise’s planned amenities include a pool, cabana, and natural walking trails.
You could check it out online, or better yet, see it in person this weekend. Locals are invited to tour the two model homes (as well as the community’s move-in-ready homes), enjoy refreshments, and take home a fun memory — a caricature artist will be on site both days from 2-4 p.m.
Pro tip: Pendleton offers a hefty dose of small-town charm with plenty of shops and restaurants to explore, so make a day of it. Did you know? The entire town is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Dear Greenville’s annual summer book swap is back. Drop off any books you’d like to re-home this week + earn tickets. Return this Saturday, July 12, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to redeem them for new (to you) books. Bonus: Leftover books will be donated to the Greenville Literary Association’s August book sale.

As it turns out, Greenville is a bit of a training ground for “American Ninja Warrior.” After seeing Bob Reese flipping out (literally) in Monday’s episode, I did some digging and found out he owns MOTIVE School of Movement — specializing in Ninja Warrior, Parkour, and Trampoline — with 12-time American Ninja Warrior Brett Sims and 10-time American Ninja Warrior Bootie Cothran.
