If we’re being honest, we’re still mourning Birds Fly South, which changed the landscape at Hampton Station when it closed in 2023. Abacus Capital, a Charlotte-based real estate investor, purchased the development in 2024 and wants to breathe new life into the property.

What’s new?
The Yard at Hampton Station recently opened + is a community-focused space featuring fresh landscaping, a family-friendly putt-putt course, and expanded picnic seating. Plans for the space include hosting events and programming for more community activation.

What’s coming soon?
A food and beverage concept is coming to the former Birds Fly South + White Duck Taco space, but the developers are keeping the tenant under wraps. Here’s what we know: It’s a brewery concept that already has a footprint in Greenville. Any guesses?
The space will be split with the local engineering company Isomer Project Group.

Guthrie’s Golden Fried Chicken Fingers opens today on Wade Hampton Boulevard in Greer, near the intersection with South Buncombe Road. It’s the second SC location for the Alabama-based chicken chain that serves fries, coleslaw, signature sauce, and buttered toast.

Also in Greer, Third Place Coffee House is coming soon to Old Spartanburg Road near the Harris Teeter. The converted 96-year-old house turned cafe will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, June 7.
A new stone marker in Falls Park honors the life of Tommy Wyche — Greenville native, Naturaland Trust founder, and driving force behind protecting 100,000+ acres of the Blue Ridge Escarpment. The memorial sits downtown near the Wyche law firm, where his decades of work helped transform the city and its natural surroundings. (Greenville Journal)
