Changes are teeing up at Hampton Station. | Photo by GVLtoday
If we’re being honest, we’re still mourning Birds Fly South, which changed the landscape at Hampton Station when it closed in 2023. Abacus Capital, a Charlotte-based real estate investor, purchased the development in 2024 and wants to breathe new life into the property.

What’s coming soon?

A food and beverage concept is coming to the former Birds Fly South + White Duck Taco space, but the developers are keeping the tenant under wraps. Here’s what we know: It’s a brewery concept that already has a footprint in Greenville. Any guesses?

The space will be split with the local engineering company Isomer Project Group.
What's already open?

The Greenville Humane Society is progressing on its new facility, right next to its current space near the Greenville Downtown Airport.

The proposed 9,260-sqft clinic expansion will allow GHS to:
  • Perform twice the number of annual surgeries
  • Provide dedicated space for feral cat surgeries
  • Increase capacity to perform surgeries for animal shelters across the Southeast
The expansion will also include a 7,950-sqft multipurpose space for public engagement. Think: Dog training classes, humane education, fundraising events, and more.

News Notes

Opening

Guthrie’s Golden Fried Chicken Fingers opens today on Wade Hampton Boulevard in Greer, near the intersection with South Buncombe Road. It’s the second SC location for the Alabama-based chicken chain that serves fries, coleslaw, signature sauce, and buttered toast.
